Friday 8 December 2006, Media ReleaseNominations Called for NSWALC ScholarshipThe New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council has today called for nominations for the 2007 Freddy Fricke scholarship. Named after its founding benefactor, the Scholarship aims to support Aboriginal students interested in studying in a range of disciplines. “This Scholarship seeks to address the lack of Aboriginal people working in areas such as finance, accounting, banking and commerce,” NSWALC deputy Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Scott said today. “These roles are vital to our communities and organisations and our future self determination,” he added. The Scholarship is operated as a Sub Fund of the Charities Aid Foundation. The Sub Fund was established after Mr Frederick (Freddy) Fricke bequeathed his Bondi Junction property to the NSWALC upon his death in 2000. Application forms and full details for the Scholarship for the 2007 academic year are available from the NSWALC website at www.alc.org.au Nominations close on Friday, 16 February, 2007.
