DARKINJUNG TAKES A FORWARD STEP (Statement by NSWALC Sydney-Newcastle Region Councillor Roy Ah-See)

Members of the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council have taken a crucial step forward in regaining control of their own affairs with the election of a new 10 member Board.

The elections for the new governing Board were held at a duly convened meeting of all Darkinjung LALC members last night.

I’d like to take this opportunity to publicly congratulate the voting members of DLALC, particularly those elected to such important office.

This is a crucial step taken by all voting members to regain full administrative control of DLALC under the new governance provisions of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act

I’m sure all will continue to help steer DLALC out of administration and set about ensuring the many resources available to the LALC are equitably distributed to the benefit of members and the wider Aboriginal community.

I can assure them as the duly elected Councillor for the Sydney-Newcastle region I will continue to represent the best interests of all DLALC members within the appropriate forums of the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council.

NSWALC Councillor
Sydney-Newcastle Region
