NSW Aboriginal Land Council Chair to join IBA Board

17 May 2017

NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) Chair Roy Ah-See has been appointed to the Board of Indigenous Business Australia (IBA).

The IBA is a Federal Government agency that helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples buy their own homes, operate their own businesses and invest in commercial ventures.

Cr Ah-See said he would use his three-year appointment to foster economic independence for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

"The ability of the Land Rights network in New South Wales to leverage land for jobs and economic development is a high priority for the NSW Aboriginal Land Council.

"The best way to close the gap is through economic security, independence and creating jobs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

"In New South Wales, we have the best system of Land Rights that delivers freehold title to Aboriginal peoples over certain lands.

"During my three-year term, I'm looking forward to sharing the best-practice models we have in New South Wales and seeing how our voice at the IBA can further the economic interests of Aboriginal peoples in New South Wales."
