NSW Land Rights Legends Honour Roll 2011: Short Film

"We owe them all a great debt. This video is a powerful reminder of why we are all here," Madam Chair, 5th April 2011

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council has produced a short film in honour of Aboriginal Land Rights Warriors and LALC members who have passed away. This short film premiered at the NSW Aboriginal Land Council's State Wide Conference held in the Hunter Valley earlier this year.

A minutes silence was undertaken prior to the showing of the film, introduced by Madam Chair Bev Manton.

"We asked all LALCs to nominate those they wished to be honoured in this way. I thank all of those LALCs who have responded to our request."

"I should warn everyone that the video contains images of a number of people who have passed."

"I'm sure every delegate will agree once they see it that it is a powerful reminder of the days before the internet and new technology when our people had to take to the streets to assert their rights."

"We owe all of them a great debt."

"The video is also a powerful reminder of why we are all here."

The Land Rights Legend Honour Roll is a work in progress, and further nominations of people to be honoured in the film are welcomed.
